Supervised in July and August, this wild beach is a renowned surf spot, where several contests are held during the year. It is also possible for the whole family to swim there. A free car park will help you accessing the beach easily.
The advice of the reception :
Creek of la Sauzaie : near the beach of la Sauzaie, you will find two creeks, less visited by tourists. Dogs are allowed there, on a leash, but forbidden to swim. This wild spot is accessible at low tide only and is a nice fishing area for the fans of this hobby.
BEACH OF LA PAREE (7 km), Avenue de la Corniche 85470 – Brétignolles-sur-Mer.
This beach relatively vast offers at low tide a great fishing area thanks to numerous rocks. At high tide however, the beach gets quite small. Close to the town centre, it is supervised in summer. Its access is easy thanks to a free car park.

Family-friendly beach displaying a large swimming area close to the town centre. A little bit more to the left, this beach becomes wilder with its sand dunes. This beach is equipped with a lifeguard’s station and a free car park. A reassuring environment for families, supervised in July and August. You can also practice there some water sports. Restaurants can be found close by.
The advice of the reception: a beach untouched by the concreting of the coast, that will let you enjoy a pleasant and relaxed walk, ideal for a day with your family. Rare thing ; you can get WIFI on this beach.
BEACH OF LES DUNES 1 et 2 (7 km), Avenue des Dunes 85470 – Brétignolles-sur-Mer.
This beach might be the most pleasant one of Brétignolles sur Mer. Very wild as it is bordered by sand dunes, its vastness means you will be sure to find a spot there. It also is ideal for surfing thanks to its dedicated area. There is a lifeguard’s station and the beach is supervised all summer. Finally, a free car park guarantees you an easy access.

A few kilometers away from the campsite, discover Les Sables d’Olonne, seaside resort town renowned in the department. Departure of the Vendée Globe, the city has a large variety of beaches alongside its coastline. La grande plage and its promenade in the heart of the city centre, or the beach of Sauveterre located in the heart of the state forest of Olonne sur mer… the whole family will be pleased !
GRANDE PLAGE OF LES SABLES (centre-ville 18 km), Promenade Georges Clemenceau 85100 – Les Sables d’Olonne.
The most renowned beach of this seaside resort town. Alongside the promenade and its numerous cafes and restaurants, discover a long, fine sand beach with no rocks ! Ideal for a family day. You can enjoy a swim and unravel the city centre of Les Sables d’Olonne ! The parking spots are frequent but mostly for a fee. The beach is supervised during the high season. You will also find a nautical centre, Volley Ball fields, restaurants and beach bars but also kids’ clubs. The promenade is lively in the evenings, making it an ideal place to end your day ! The beach is very busy, so if you are looking for peace and quiet, it might not be the right beach!
The advice of the reception : Take the opportunity of your day at the beach of Les Sables D’Olonne, to visit the city centre and try some local gastronomy in one of the many restaurants, on the promenade!
The parking spots are limited in the city centre, so do not hesitate to park a little further from the promenade and the harbour.
BEACH OF LA PARACOU (20 km), La Chaume : Rue de la Bonne Vierge 85100 Les Sables-d’Olonne.
This wild beach is well liked by the locals and is supervised in summer. Bordered by sand dunes, at low tide La Paracou reveals plenty of rocks, ideal for fishing on foot. When the tide is very low, you will find some water points where kids can have fun in. Usually, the ocean is rougher than at the Grande Plage. The plus side : a large free car park. Enjoy your day at La Paracou to take a walk in the sand dunes, in the state forest, or in the neighborhood of La Chaume !

BEACH OF SAUVETERRE (15 km), Route de la Mer 85340 Olonne-sur-Mer.
In the heart of the state forest of Olonne sur Mer, you will find a wild beach bordered by sand dunes. The main swimming area is quite busy. A lifeguard’s station assures the safety of the swimmers. The beach of Sauveterre is also known to be a very good surfing spot. Parking is quite easy there, thanks to a free car park.
The advice of the reception: Take this opportunity to enjoy a walk in the forest ! Fans of surf, this beach is for you! A surf school provides lessons for every age. Finally, the beach is quite busy in the beginning of the afternoon, so do not hesitate to pack a picnic and go there at the end of the day.
BEACH OF TANCHET (19 km), Boulevard Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny 85180 – Le Château-d’Olonne.
This beach supervised during summer is a must-see for the fans of surfing. The beach is not very wide but various snack bars make this beach quite nice for a family day. The beach is relatively close to the city centre of Les Sables d’Olonne and its numerous restaurants and shops.
The advice of the reception: Why not benefit from your excursion to the beach of Tanchet, to visit the zoo of Les Sables? A visit of 1h30-2h that will please the whole family.
BASSE DE DOMBRET (22 km), Le bassin Dombret Les sables d’Olonne, 85100 – Les Sables-d’Olonne.
This beach is completely different from the other ones of Les Sables d’Olonne. It is an artificial sea-water pool where the water ends up warmer than the ocean and you will have the feeling to swim in a swimming pool. It is supervised in July and August, in the afternoon only. The safety there is maximum and a small car park makes it easy to park close to the beach.
The advice of the reception: the beach is quite small, but you can take the opportunity of a walk in the neighborhood of La Chaume and along the wild coast, to make a stop there.
BEACH OF LES GRANGES (10 km), Rue des Granges 85340 – Olonne-sur-Mer.
This is the beach the closest to Brétignolles sur Mer. Located between this seaside resort town and Les Sables d’Olonne (between the beach of Sauveterre and the beach of Les dunes). This beach is supervised in summer and is a surf spot well-liked by fans of this sport. A free car park allows you to get there easily.
The advice of the reception: Be careful, the south of the beach is not supervised and swimming there can be dangerous. Make sure you stay in the supervised area.
Saint Hilaire de Riez
BEACH OF DEMOISELLES, Esplanade de la Mer 85270 – Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez.
