The island of Noirmoutier lies in the Bay of Biscay, and at low tide a causeway called "Le passage du Gois" links it to the town of Beauvoir sur mer.
You'll discover a unique and very pleasant crossing in the middle of the water. The island's most distinctive feature is the salt marshes that cover a third of its territory, an impressive sight to capture on film. This small island offers a wide variety of landscapes, from fine sandy beaches to intimate coves, wild paths and steep lanes.
Le Goi: a must-see submersible road, which can be crossed at low tide.


What are the places to discover on the island of Noirmoutier?
This small Vendée island is packed with places rich in history.
You'll discover a historic center dating back to the 17th century, with a church that served as a prison during the Vendée wars, a listed château, the Banzeau district, the oldest on the island, and of course the port of Noirmoutier with its nature reserve, salt marshes and wilderness as far as the eye can see.
There are plenty of sites to discover here, and you can even enjoy a delicious meal in a waterside restaurant!

Did you know? A curiosity unique in the world, the Passage du Gois was for many years the island's only umbilical cord, until a bridge was built in 1971.
